Barbara J. Baker, 72, past president and secretary of the Medina Women’s Bowling Association, was inducted into the Medina Bowling Association Hall of Fame with the Class of 2002.
The Brunswick, Ohio, resident, who died July 4, 2009, served as an MWBA officer for around 20 years.
Barbara also was elected president, secretary and/or treasurer of various bowling leagues including the Medina Body Shop Ladies Classic.
She acted as sergeant-at-arms for the Ohio Women’s Inter-City Bowling Tournament.
Barbara coached in Youth American Bowling Alliance leagues and served on the board of directors of YABA’s MED-WICK Bowling Association.
She was known at the bowling lanes as much for her quick wit as she was for her dedication to the sport.
Barbara, whose maiden name was Todd, was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Lakewood (Ohio) High School. She lived in Brook Park, Ohio, before moving to Brunswick 41 years ago.
Barbara worked as a pharmacy tech for Rite Aid in Brunswick.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Warren; daughters, Bonnie, Elizabeth Caldwell and Rebecca Williams; grandchildren, Renee Sims, John Nemastil, Todd Nemastil and Corinne Caldwell; and sister, Patricia Kleinknecht.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick, and an hour prior to 10 a.m. services Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick.
